New Initiative Focuses on Long-Term Viability of Health Care in Local Communities

Building exteriorGoshen Health Foundation hopes to create an ongoing philanthropic annual campaign that can support the health care needs of its communities for years to come.

“Our campaign is called, ‘Taking Care of One Another,’ because that’s exactly what people do in Goshen and in our surrounding communities,” said Jim Caskey, vice president of Goshen Health Foundation. “To create that long-term viability of a health care system, it takes all of us.”

Goshen Health has been serving Goshen and surrounding communities for more than 120 years. With humble beginnings in 1898, the original 25-bed hospital now has 30 locations in four counties, offering medical services to more than 85,000 residents each year.

The long-term viability of a community and a locally owned health system are extremely important if we want our community members to thrive for generations to come.

“At Goshen Health, we’ve often said, ‘Enhanced resources make bolder visions possible,’” Caskey said. “We want to accelerate medical innovations, expand our women’s health offerings, grow our cardiovascular and cancer services—just to name a few opportunities. And in such a generous community, we can make these bolder visions possible. It’s from this giving spirit in our communities that we can help create certainty in uncertain times, for generations to come.”
