A Rare Community Resource

Historians have often observed that “Rome was not built in a day,” alluding, of course, to the fact that Rome evolved over a lengthy period of time. The same can be said of Goshen Health, for our very own local medical system was not built in a day. Indeed, Goshen Health emerged from humble beginnings in 1898.

Goshen General Hospital was established in 1913, making it one of the oldest nonprofit organizations in the area. By the early 1950s, Goshen Health needed to expand due to increased demand for their services and a growing population. The city of Goshen designated an optimal site on State Road 15 and gifted the land to Goshen Health, where it is located today.

In subsequent years, the hospital facility underwent numerous expansions and renovations, each with the intention of providing compassionate care with medical excellence. At the same time, medical services were expanded at an almost dizzying pace. Technology and medical advances were implemented at a speed and level of efficiency that likely would have astonished the hospital’s founders.

Today, Goshen Health and its dedicated group of physicians and clinical teams provide care from 38 locations in four counties. We are unified in our vision to provide medical care with compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

You may have noticed the construction of a new four-story tower on the same footprint of the original hospital. It represents certainty in uncertain times. Goshen Health will keep its promise of providing the level of service and care you’ve come to expect. Put simply, this is a partnership. The community built Goshen Health. The community has helped shape it into what it is today. The community’s support will determine what Goshen Health grows into tomorrow.
